BR 3-4 San Francisco

“San Francisco has a long and interesting story, from the early days of the gold rush to today.”(p.39)
This book talks about various aspects of San Francisco from 10 concepts.  Firstly, San Francisco as the city of hills is written. There are about seventy hills in San Francisco. Because of it, it is a very good place for taking photos. We can stand on the hills and see wonderful San Francisco. The beautiful scenery should be recorded by taking pictures of them. As stated above, there are a lot of hills in San Francisco, so the hills break the town into different parts and these are called neighborhood. Many visitors love neighborhoods of San Francisco. Next, we can learn early days of San Francisco. San Francisco is now very big city but many days ago, it was called Yerba Buena. It was not a city but it was a town. Actually, there weren’t many people in San Francisco but in January 1848, things changed. A worker called Marshall found gold. Since then, many people had been looking for gold. Then, the famous Californian gold rush began. In the gold rush, many people came to San Francisco to get gold. They were called forty-miners because many of them came to San Francisco in 1849. Many visitors stayed there, so many coffee shops, hotels and restaurants opened. Then many visitors got gold used their gold in San Francisco and it became rich and big country. Next topic is about the weather in San Francisco. Surprisingly, the temperature in the winter does not change a lot from the temperature in the summer. The best seasons in San Francisco are April, May and October. These seasons are nice and warm with not much rain. However, the weather often changes in San Francisco. Also, there are often earthquakes in the San Francisco. However, when the earthquake happen in 1989, the Transamerica Pyramid, the tallest buildings in San Francisco, stayed up. Traveling San Francisco is also interesting. For example, Lombard Street is very famous. This hill has 8 sharp curves. It’s said to be the most curved hill in the world and also the most beautiful hill because of the flowers blooming along the roadway. In addition, Golden Gate Bridge is world famous bridge. Many travelers visit this bridge to walk around. There are many beautiful photos of the bridge, often with the sun behind it or the fog half over it. The last theme is food in San Francisco. The most famous food is Clam chowder in sourdough bread. This food is the most important one when it was the gold rush time.

I could learn about San Francisco from this book. I want to go to San Francisco and visit Lombard Street someday!

What do you want to do this week?

This  week, I’m going to watch DVDs which I have wanted to watch since the beginning of this summer vacation. The title of the DVDs are High & Low serieses. I’m going to watch them in Tuesday and Wednesday. However, on Thursday, I have to go to university to take a class, so before watching them, I’ll finish my homework!!!!

What did you do this week?

I joined Ukiha festival on Sunday. I’m a member of Ichidaiji, which is YOSAKOI club of my university. Our club members joined the festival and danced in some stages. Each time after dancing, we could eat peers and grapes a lot. They were so delicious that we could feel happy!!!! We came to the university at 6 am and arrived there at 10 pm, so we were very tired but we could enjoy talking in the bus. We could get to know about each other more deeply. Next weekend, I’ll join Kawatana festival in Nagasaki. I’m really looking forward to attending the festival!!!!!!!!
