"Success!" cried Professor Verity. "My new invention is ready. It is now complete. I shall call it The Truth Machine." (p.3)
One day, a prpfessor, Verity invented The Truth Machine and he phoned a newspaper office. Then he was on radio and on the television too. All over the world, newspapers and magazines wrote about him and he became a famous inventor. Many people wrote to him and he chose three people of them. They were Mrs. Seeker, Inspector Sack and Dr Simple. Of them, the first visitor was Mrs. Seeker. She wanted to check if her husband had another woman. She wanted the truth from her husband. Next visitor was Sack. He was a policeman and he wanted to get to know the truth about some criminals. In other words, he wasnted to know wether criminals really comitted crimes or not. Last visitor was Dr Simple. He is a spy to fight for peace and he found an enemy spy, but he didn't tell the truth. The Doctor wanted to get to know the truth wether the enemy was spy or not. Next Monday, everyone came to Verity's laboratory. First, Mrs. Seeker made her husband sit on the truth chair and she was a questioner. Then he told the truth. He loved Anne Elliott who is a best friend of Mrs. Seeker. She was very shocked. Next, the Inspector brought some criminals and made them sit on thr truth chair one after another. Finally, they all told truth and he found one of the criminals were innocent and another criminals were really criminals. Then his boss said to him that they don't need him now bacause the wonderful machine was invented. He was shocked because he lost a job. Final visitor was Dr. Simple. He brought a spy with him. During he was on the chair, he told the truth but finally, he said that he always told a lie. It made the doctor disorderd. He couldn't get to know what is the truth. Three visitors all have complains and they visited the laboratory together ans asked Verity to gaine back the money they paied. What happened after that? Please read the continuous of this story.
I thought that we shouldn't rely on machine to get to know something. We have to talk with to solve some problems.
